Homeless Veterans Services of Dallas, Inc. (HVSD) - Improving the lives of homeless or at-risk veterans and their families through assistances with transitional or permanent housing.
The HVSD began serving homeless veterans in February of 2004. The organization was formed at that time as a 501(c)3. Ever since then and as needs have increased, they have expanded their focus to meet the needs of our veterans and their families’. In 2009 they partnered with the Dallas VA for the Homeless Veterans Stand Down. They have also co-partnered with the Homeless Veterans Stand Down in Tarrant County since 2010.
On September 11, 2011 they expanded their operations and had the ribbon cutting ceremony to open the Veterans Resource Center of Dallas (VRC). The VRC is managed by HVSD and since 9/11/2011 has served over 45,000 veterans. The Veterans Resource Center provides a first point of contact for Veterans needing to connect to nonprofit, employment, educational and VA resources, in order to provide paths towards self-sufficiency.
